The Attachments tab is unavailable in the Attributes pane on ArcGIS Pro

Description

When attempting to add an attachment to shapefiles or feature classes, the Attachments tab is not available in the Attributes pane.

The image below shows the Attributes pane without the Attachments tab.

Cause

• By default, attachments are not enabled for feature classes.
• Shapefiles do not support attachments.

Solution or Workaround

Enable attachments for the feature class

Note: 
A Standard or Advance license is required to perform this workflow.

Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Enable attachments for instructions to add attachments to feature classes.

Export the shapefile as a feature class and enable attachments

1. In the Contents pane, right-click the desired shapefile and navigate to Data > Export Features.
2. In the Export Features dialog box, for Output Feature Class, specify a name for the feature class.
3. Click OK.
4. Enable attachments for the output feature class using the Enable Attachments tool. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Enable attachments for instructions.
