The Attachments tab is unavailable in the Attributes pane in ArcGIS Pro

Description

When attempting to add an attachment to shapefiles or feature classes, the Attachments tab is not available in the Attributes pane.

The Attributes pane is displayed without the Attachments tab.

Cause

• Attachments are not enabled on feature classes because this is the default setting.
• Shapefiles do not support attachments.

Solution or Workaround

Enable attachments for the feature class

To make the Attachments tab available in the Attributes pane in ArcGIS Pro, enable attachments for the feature layer in ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Enable attachments for instructions.

Export the shapefile as a feature class and enable attachments

1. In the Contents pane, right-click the desired shapefile and navigate to Data > Export Features.
2. In the Export Features dialog box, specify the following parameters:
   1. For Input Features, select the feature layer from the drop-down menu.
   2. For Output Feature Class, specify a name for the feature class.
   3. Click OK.
3. Enable attachments for the output feature class using the Enable Attachments tool. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Enable attachments for instructions.

The Attributes pane displays the Attachments tab.
