The ArcGIS Hub site URL is not updated after changing the short name in ArcGIS Online

Description

After changing the short name of an ArcGIS Online organization, the ArcGIS Hub site URL is not updated to reflect the new short name.

Cause

This is a known limitation. Refer to BUG-000140627 for more information. ArcGIS Hub sites do not support domain modifications by changing the organization's short name. This is because once a Hub site has been published, modifying the URL causes link breakage and results in issues accessing the Hub site.

Solution or Workaround

To update the ArcGIS Hub site URL with the updated short name, clone the Hub site and edit the URL with the updated short name.

1. Log in to ArcGIS Hub.
2. Clone the ArcGIS Hub site. Refer to ArcGIS Hub: Clone a site for instructions.
3. In the cloned site, edit the site's URL to reflect the updated short name change. Refer to ArcGIS Hub: Update a site’s default URL for instructions.
