Delete ArcGIS Survey123 records in ArcGIS Experience Builder

Summary

On the ArcGIS Survey123 website, survey owners and collaborators with certain privileges can view and delete the results of submitted survey responses on the Data tab. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: View all data for more information. However, survey records can also be deleted in ArcGIS Experience Builder web apps, which is an alternative method to access and delete survey records for the purpose of removing unnecessary or incorrect records to ensure data accuracy.

This article provides two methods to delete ArcGIS Survey123 records in ArcGIS Experience Builder.

Procedure

Note:
In ArcGIS Online, enable the editing and delete options for the ‘What kind of editing is allowed?’ setting on the survey’s feature layer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Manage hosted feature layer editing for more information.

Delete ArcGIS Survey123 records in ArcGIS Experience Builder using the Edit widget

  1. Open the web app in ArcGIS Experience Builder.
  2. Add the Map, List, Feature Info, or Table widget to the web app and select the survey’s feature layer from ArcGIS Online as the widget’s data source. In this example, the Table widget is added, and the ‘Sydney Bird Sightings’ feature layer is selected as the data source.

  1. Add the Edit widget with the ‘Attribute only’ mode and select the survey’s feature layer as the widget’s data source.
    1. Add the Edit widget to the web app.
    2. On the Content tab of the Edit widget, select Attribute only and click New editable source.
    3. On the Layer configuration panel, click Select data and select the survey’s feature layer. In this example, the Sydney Bird Sightings feature layer is selected.

  1. Under Capability, toggle Delete records on.

  1. Save, preview and publish the web app.
  2. Open the published web app. Click on a record in the widget from Step 2 and the selected record is displayed in the Edit widget.
  3. In the Edit widget, click Delete to delete the selected record.

Delete ArcGIS Survey123 records in ArcGIS Experience Builder using the Embed widget

  1. Sign in to ArcGIS Online.
  2. Create a web map with the survey’s feature layer and enable pop-ups. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Get started creating maps (Map Viewer) and ArcGIS Online: Configure pop-ups (Map Viewer) for more information.
  3. Save the web map and copy the URL.

  1. Open the web app in ArcGIS Experience Builder.
  2. Embed the web map from Step 2 in the web app.
    1. Add the Embed widget to the web app.
    2. On the Content tab of the Embed widget, select the URL option for the Embed by parameter and paste the copied URL into the text box.

  1. Save, preview and publish the web app.
  2. Open the published web app and click a feature on the embedded web map.
  3. In the selected feature’s pop-up, click the Edit The Edit icon icon. The Edit feature pane is displayed.

  1. Click Delete to delete the selected feature.
