PROBLEM
Note:
To configure ArcGIS Pro versions 2.9 - 3.2 to use the WebView2 Evergreen Runtime, follow the steps in the article: How To: Configure the ArcGIS Pro Chromium WebView2 control to use the WebView2 Evergreen Runtime
Starting at the versions listed below, these Esri software products require the installation of the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, instead of relying on a fixed version of WebView2 that was previously provided:
On internet-connected Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines:
As of January 2023, the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is a pre-installed software package on all Windows 11 devices, as well as all Windows 10 devices running the Windows 10 April 2018 Update or newer. This means that if you're using ArcGIS Pro, AllSource, Drone2Map, or Reality Studio on an internet-connected computer with a Windows 10 or Windows 11 operating system supported by Microsoft, no action is necessary on your part; these software packages will utilize this installation of the WebView2 Runtime, and Microsoft regularly updates the Runtime with patches and security fixes via standard Windows Updates.
Note that if your Windows 10 or 11 machine is not connected to the internet, you may not have the WebView2 Runtime on your machine. To confirm whether or not your Windows User has the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime installed, open the "Apps & features" window on your Windows machine and search for "WebView2". The WebView2 Runtime should be present in the results if your Windows User has access to the installation, as shown in the image below:
On Windows Server machines:
Unlike supported versions of Windows 10 and 11, machines with supported versions of Windows Server do not possess the WebView2 Evergreen Runtime as a pre-installed software package.
When attempting to install ArcGIS Pro 3.3, AllSource 1.2, Drone2Map 2024.1 and Reality Studio 2024.2 or newer on a supported Windows Server machine without the WebView2 Runtime present, the following warning appears before preventing their installation from proceeding, as shown in the next image:
"ArcGIS Pro/AllSource/Drone2Map/Reality Studio requires Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (x64). To download and install Microsoft Edge WebView2 Evergreen Runtime, visit the Microsoft website or contact your system administrator. To install ArcGIS Pro for All Users (per-machine), you must also install WebView2 Runtime as per-machine. To do this, right-click the WebView2 installer and click Run as administrator."
Starting with 3.3 and future versions of ArcGIS Pro, and the versions of Drone2Map, AllSource, and Reality Studio listed above, users are required to install WebView 2 using the Microsoft-provided Evergreen Installer, which can be found at this link: WebView 2 Evergreen Installer
You can resolve the warning seen during installation of ArcGIS Pro, AllSource, Drone2Map and/or RealityStudio by installing the Edge WebView2 Runtime separately. This can be completed by using the following workflow:
Once the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime installation is complete, you may proceed with installing these ArcGIS products normally.
