HOW TO
Note: Beginning at version 3.3, ArcGIS Pro has switched entirely to leveraging the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and will no longer install a Fixed Version during the application setup process, making this workflow valid for ArcGIS Pro version 2.9 through 3.2 only. If the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime is not already installed on your machine, it can be downloaded using the Evergreen Bootstrapper or Evergreen Standalone Installer from Microsoft.
About WebView2
Starting at version 2.9, ArcGIS Pro uses the Microsoft Edge WebView2 to present HTML and JavaScript content in the application user interface. The WebView2 control uses Microsoft Edge (Chromium) as the engine for processing and rendering this content.
WebView2 Runtime Distributions
Microsoft Edge WebView2 is supported by a runtime installed on the computer. The runtime includes the Chromium browser code that WebView2 uses for processing HTML and JavaScript content. There are two distributions of the WebView2 runtime: Fixed Version and Evergreen. ArcGIS Pro uses Fixed Version by default, but can be configured to use Evergreen instead.
Warning: The instructions below include making changes to essential parts of your operating system. It is recommended that you backup your operating system and files, including the registry, before proceeding. Consult a qualified computer systems professional, if necessary. Esri cannot guarantee results from incorrect modifications while following these instructions. Therefore, use caution and proceed at your own risk.
Note: The following procedure modifies the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE portion of the Windows registry, and requires Administrator permission to complete.
HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ESRI\ArcGISPro\Settings
To switch back to the Fixed Version runtime, either change WebViewEvergreenMode from 1 to 0 in the Registry Editor, or delete the WebViewEvergreenMode value entirely.
