Frequently asked question
Esri is committed to building and providing strong security for ArcGIS by using the latest security protocols. We strive to implement the highest industry standards, including Transport Layer Security (TLS), for data integrity and network security.
To meet these standards, Esri is making software updates across ArcGIS to support TLS 1.2. As part of improving ArcGIS Online security, Esri is planning to require TLS 1.2 connections for ArcGIS Online services. Action is required to ensure continued access to these services.

ArcGIS Earth versions 1.0 – 1.4:
These versions are retired and will not be updated. If you continue to run a retired version of ArcGIS Earth, there are two options:
Note: Consider your situation when deciding which approach to use – Esri has certified that setting the .NET environment to enable TLS 1.2 will not cause problems with ArcGIS, however, this may impact other .NET applications by changing their default TLS behavior. Consult a qualified computer systems professional, if necessary.
