Cause

ArcGIS Server is configured on a machine with multiple network interface controllers (NIC) cards, and is accessing the site using a fully qualified domain name instead of the machine's IP address. In this scenario, the IP address or hostname of the server must be identified before creating a new ArcGIS Server site.

Solution or Workaround

Use the hostname.properties file, and specify the hostname as the machine's IP address.

  1. Navigate to the following directory, and rename all files in the directory:
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\etc
  1. Create a hostname.properties file. Refer to ArcGIS Server: Configure ArcGIS Server in advanced scenarios for steps to do this.
  2. Restart ArcGIS Server. The site is rebuilt with an IP address as the machine name instead of the fully qualified domain name.
