Error Message

Attempting to connect to an enterprise geodatabase or SQL database failed and the following error is returned:

The ArcGIS Server license is missing or not valid. Please provide the path to an authorization file (ECP file) that contains an ArcGIS Server License.

Cause

The keycodes file used as the Authorization File parameter in the Create Enterprise Geodatabase tool to create the connection to the database in ArcGIS Pro is expired. The default folder location for the keycodes file is as follows:

C:\Program Files\ESRI\License10.x\sysgen

Solution or Workaround

Replace the expired ArcGIS Enterprise and enterprise geodatabase licenses with a new license containing the new expiry date. Refer to How To: Replace expired ArcGIS Server and enterprise geodatabase licenses for instructions.
