Error Message
In the ArcGIS Survey123 field app, editing an existing survey record is not permitted and the error message below is returned:
Error:
Code 1009
No permission to edit the specified feature.
Cause
The ArcGIS Survey123 hosted feature layer's editing settings are restricted, preventing editors from editing all features in the layer or accessing editing capabilities without signing in.
Solution or Workaround
Configure the hosted feature layer settings to allow all editors, including anonymous editors, to edit existing survey records.
- Sign in to ArcGIS Online with an organizational account.
- On the Content > My Content tab, navigate to Folders and click the survey folder.
- In the folder, click the survey hosted feature layer to open the item details page.
- On the Settings tab, on the Feature layer (hosted) section, configure the editing settings as follows:
- For Editing, check the Enable editing check box.
- For What kind of editing is allowed?, check the Add and Update check boxes and select Attributes and geometry.
- For What features can editors see?, select Editors can see all features.
- For What features can editors edit?, select Editors can edit all features.
- For What access do anonymous editors (not signed in) have?, select The same as signed in editors.
- Click Save to save the settings.
- Repeat Steps 4 through 5 for the survey form and the resulting hosted feature layer views.
- In ArcGIS Survey123 Connect, ensure the survey is configured to enable edits to existing survey records. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Prepare to edit existing survey data for instructions.
