Summary
When filling out surveys in ArcGIS Survey123, it is possible to copy existing survey records to a new survey for update purposes. This is useful when a survey has a lot of questions but requires only specific questions to be updated periodically. Copying existing records to a new survey saves time and avoids potential errors when updating surveys.
This article describes the workflow to copy existing survey records to a new survey in ArcGIS Survey123 Connect and the ArcGIS Survey123 web designer.
Procedure
- Create a survey in ArcGIS Survey123 Connect or the ArcGIS Survey123 web designer. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Style a survey for instructions.
- Enable copying of survey records to the new survey. Follow one of the workflow below to enable copying of survey records in the new survey, depending on the product used to create the new survey.
In ArcGIS Survey123 Connect
- Click the Options tab.
- Enable either the inbox or sent folder.
Note:
Enabling both the Inbox and Sent folder is not reccomended when multiple users are updating the survey. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Enable editing for more information.
- In the Inbox section, toggle on Enable Inbox. A series of options appear. Toggle on Allow inbox surveys to be copied to a new survey.
- In the Sent section, toggle on Enable Sent folder. A series of options appear. Toggle on Allow sent surveys to be copied to a new survey.
In the ArcGIS Survey123 web designer
- Click the Collaborate tab.
- In the Share survey section, for What can submitters do?, select either Add and update records, or Add, update, and delete records.
- Click Save to save the configurations
- Publish the survey. Refer to ArcGIS Survey123: Publish a survey to publish the survey in ArcGIS Survey123 Connect or the ArcGIS Survey123 web designer.
- Enable editing of the survey's hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online.
- In ArcGIS Online, click Content > My Content to access the published survey items.
- Open the item details page of the hosted feature layer and click the Settings tab.
- Under the Feature layer (hosted) section, check Enable editing. If necessary, configure the other settings. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Settings that control editing access for more information on editing access.
- Update the survey records in the web app or field app.
