thematic accuracy assessment
URL copiedShare URL
[standards, thematic mapping]
The process of evaluating the correctness of an image classification or mapping task, particularly related to land cover or land use features. It determines how well the classification or task matches a reference dataset (commonly called “ground truth”) to determine the quality of information derived from remotely sensed data. A thematic accuracy assessment produces various measures of feature identification accuracy, such as User's accuracy (errors of commission), Producer's accuracy (errors of omission), overall accuracy, and Kappa coefficient.
