Lambert conformal conic projection
URL copiedShare URL
[map projections]
A conic map projection that preserves angles between lines on the map. Two standard parallels are assigned that minimize overall unit scale distortion within the region of interest between these two parallels; distortion increases at further distances. Invented by Swiss polymath Johann Heinrich Lambert in 1772. Lambert conformal conic projections are used for regional maps and aeronautical charts.
