When null values are allowed in the geodatabase prior to publishing in ArcGIS Collector, the following error message is returned, "Domain: com.esri.arcgis.runtime.error Code: 3018 Description: The field already exists."

This issue is addressed in ArcGIS Field Maps and to be available in the v21.2 release.

Workaround

Editor tracking fields are not required, null values allowed (changed), default values set for editor tracking user fields causes the error goes away. Republish the data.
