Description

Certain editing and administration workflows return an error when accessing a utility network from an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.x portal using ArcGIS Pro 2.4. A wide variety of symptoms are experienced when working with these ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise versions.

Here are a few examples:

  • Attempting to view the Network Properties results in the following error:
Utility Network unavailable
  • Enabling the network topology returns the following error:
Error 001793: Network topology must be enabled.
  • Using the Modify Associations pane: associations are not populated.
  • Executing Update Subnetwork returns the following error:
Error 001793: Network topology must be enabled.

Cause

This is an ArcGIS Pro client-side compatibility issue; when accessed from an ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6.x portal, ArcGIS Pro 2.4 clients are not supporting backward compatibility for working with utility networks .

Workaround

This is resolved in the ArcGIS Pro 2.4.2 patch. For more information, see ArcGIS Pro Release notes.

The following workarounds are available:

  • Downgrade ArcGIS Pro to the latest 2.3.x release available
  • Upgrade ArcGIS Enterprise to 10.7.x or later
