When using Microsoft Vista, the result of the copy/paste of a file geodatabase using ArcCatalog or Windows Explorer, is seen as a folder, not as a file geodatabase. The name auto generated by Vista is 'input.gdb – Copy' rather than 'Copy of input.gdb' where 'input.gdb' is a file geodatabase. This can only be fixed in ArcCatalog, not in Windows Explorer.
