The Survey123 web form displays automatically a required_message if a constraint is added to the XLS form.

This is expected behavior. There are some differences between Survey123 field app and web app in terms of data validation for example when a questions is marked as required. Web app validates inputs as user is completing the form but field app only validates the responses when user tries to submit the form.
