The copy and paste function changes an annotation feature to a polygon feature, when generated within the same feature dataset if the annotation feature is displayed in an ArcMap document.

Option AWithin ArcCatalog, copy the annotation feature from the feature dataset, and paste it into a different feature dataset.Option BWithin ArcCatalog, copy the annotation from the feature dataset, and paste it into a geodatabase.Option CWithin ArcCatalog, copy the annotation, and paste it into the same feature dataset. Ensure the annotation is not present in the ArcMap document.Option DWithin ArcCatalog, right-click the annotation, and select Export > To Geodatabase (single).
