The root cause of this performance issue is GCS spatial reference related.
Spatial operation in true GCS spatial reference requires calculation in 3D and is thus by nature slower than planar calculation.
The user data was migrated from the SQL Server geometry type using GCS spatial reference. The SQL Server geometry type handles GCS data in a planar manner.
SAP HANA geometry supports true GCS. When such data is migrated from SQL Server to SAP HANA, the GCS data exhibits true GCS behavior. This causes the performance change.
Such data can be migrated to SAP HANA using the matching planar version of the GCS spatial reference for better performance.
It is recommended that EQL migrate the data from SQL Server to the SAP HANA planar version of the matching GCS.
