In the National Geopgraphic basemap, "Canada" does not appear underneath the Yukon label at the 1:25,000,000 and persists to a 1:250,000 scale, when the Yukon label disappears.

The label 'United States' under Alaska is included because that state is disconnected from the lower-48. Note: there is also 'United States' label under Hawaii, also disconnected. Yukon (Canada) is not disconnected from the other provinces or territories of Canada. None of the other provinces or territories have a Canada label beneath them. You'll notice that other countries of the world are listed below disconnected "land" (mostly islands) from their mainland. Alaska falls into this same criteria for the US.
