Hosted feature layers (polygon or line) related to a table by a string field cannot be split in ArcGIS Pro and a general function failure error is returned.

1. Extract the hosted feature layer to a file geodatabase.
2. Add the file geodatabase feature class to ArcGIS Pro.
3. Split the feature class in ArcGIS Pro using the Split tool.
4. Use the Split Features class to overwrite the hosted feature service from ArcGIS Pro.
