From ArcCatalog > database servers, right click and save. This will create an .sde connection file located at (on XP):
<a href="file:C:/Documents" target="_blank">C:\Documents</a> and Settings\<username>\Application Data\ESRI\ArcCatalog\Connection to ashanti_sqlexpress.sde
Copy and paste connection file to a central location on the GIS01 server. Now test accessing this connection via one of the ArcCatalog clients.
