Adding a new field to a layer that has a Definition Query causes ArcMap to crash after being in an Edit Session.

Add the fields to the attribute table prior to adding the definition query.Or 1.Go into the Definition Query tab in the Layer Properties. 2.Save the definition query as an expression file.3.Remove the definition query.4.Add the field(s) to the attribute table.5.Replace the definition query in the Layer Properties.
