This issue is not addressed as Basic Viewer is one of Esri's older apps and is built on version 3.x of ArcGIS API for JavaScript. Esri's newer apps and the roadmap ahead features apps built on version 4.x of the API. Esri recommends using Media Map or Minimalist instead of Basic Viewer to get around this issue. Use the same web map, and publish it using Media Map or Minimalist.
