Open ArcMap > Add the “ak_nlcd_2001_land_cover_3-13-08_se5.img” > Select the image under Table of contents > Right Click > Export > Zoom to area of interest > Select Use Dataframe Current option > Select Use Renderer option > Save the output in ESRI Grid format > Click Save.
