In ArcGIS Survey123, calculations in a repeat are not honored if a row with a default value is hidden.

This behavior is by design. According to the documentation, a question hidden by the relevant column submits only null values, even if it has a default value set. Therefore, calculations that reference a question that is not relevant receive null. Do not set any of the questions as hidden in the repeat.
