The documentation page for this workflow does now include information about group-based apps: 'As of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8, group-based apps, as well as apps created using the ArcGIS Indoors template, can be shared between ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 and up participants or from ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8 and up to an ArcGIS Online organization.
