The 'Use symbol types compatible with all clients' option is added in ArcGIS Pro 3.1 for clients supporting the ArcGIS Pro Cartographic Information Model (CIM) symbols. This includes the newer JavaScript 4.x-based clients, unlike Map Viewer Classic.
