Workaround 1
- Click Add content > Geodatabase Data.
- In the geodatabase, type: ArcSDE Geodatabase \. The 'Add geodatabase' window is displayed.
- Provide the database server name in the server parameter.
- Use the following connection string in the server parameter: sde: sqlserver: InstanceName
- Provide the database name.
- Choose the appropriate version using the Change parameter in the Transactional version parameters.
- Click Next.
- Add choose and add the dataset.
Workaround 2
- In ArcMap, if a layer is saved as a layer file, open it in ArcGIS Explorer.
- Add the data from the geodatabase.
