Bogue
When using the Python API to assign portal item categories using the update or Bulk_update methods, the new category values are added to the Portal item and the portal items definition. However, the items are not picked up when searching or filtering layers by categories in Map Viewer.

This is expected behavior. The filter list should come from the category schema set in the organization properties not an individual items category value.Solution de contournement
Use the gis.admin.category_schema method with to create a category schema object and use the categorize_item method to implement category assignment procedure on each individual item.
This works on the portal item page UI and when searching for the item via a category filter in Map Viewer.
