Bogue
When using the Generalize tool in the Modify Features pane and selecting Smooth as the method on an ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer, an error message "Save edits failed. General function failure [Error code: 1500. Description: Incorrect geometry type.]" is returned after saving edits.

This is a known limitation: ArcGIS Online hosted feature services currently only support circular arcs. The Smooth function of the Generalize tool generates Bézier curves, which are not supported in ArcGIS Online. It has been discussed with the ArcGIS Pro team whether it would be possible for Pro tools to detect this limitation and either disable tools that create unsupported curve types (Bézier curves and elliptical arcs) or automatically densify such geometries before sending them to ArcGIS Online. The answer is complex. Implementing these changes would require updates across multiple tools and teams, and therefore cannot be achieved in the short term. Since ArcGIS Online will support Bézier curves in the future, there is no plan to make interim changes.Solution de contournement
Using the Smooth method in the Generalize tool in the Modify Features pane works with feature classes in a file geodatabase.
