Solution de contournement

1. Create an empty feature class in SDE geodatabase with same spatial reference as that of the PGDB feature class.2. While creating, Import the fields from the PGDB feature class.3. For Float fields, choose precision and scale as per the requirement (say, precision-5, scale-2)4. Click “Finish” to create the feature class.5. Check again by right clicking the feature class that the Float fields are maintained.6. Now, load the data into this feature class from the PGDB feature class by simple data loader in ArcCatalog. Right click on the feature class? Load Data7. This method retains the original names of the fields.Per Nana Dei:For SQL Server: When the column is created with the ‘REAL’ data type, it shows as Float from ArcCatalogHowever, when it is created as ‘Float’ from ArcCatalog is shows as DOUBLE in ArcCatalog 10 and NUMERIC in SQL Server.
