Bogue
When an ArcGIS Server map service containing a group layer is added to an ArcGIS Online web map and the symbology is changed to a custom image symbol, the image resolution is poorer and more pixelated than when the layer does not come from a group layer.

Instead of adding the entire map service, add each layer from the map service individually using the layer ID.
