In ArcGIS Pro, use the 'Change the selection.' tool in the Reshape tool pane to change the selection. This retains the sketch while the selection is modified. The Reshape tool reactivates once the selection is changed. When editing, it is considered best practice to use the active selection tool in the Edit tool pane rather than the Select tool from the Edit or Map tab as it discards the sketches that are in progress.
