The ArcGIS Online Directions analysis tool creates directions that instruct U-turns for a custom truck travel mode where U-turns are specified as Not Allowed rather than proceeding around nearby roundabouts.

The fix to this behavior is to set the CurbApproach property to 3 when the travel mode has restrictUTurns = esriNFSBNoBacktrack and set the CurbApproach property to 0 when uturnAtJunctions = esriNFSBAtDeadEndsAndIntersections. This must only be done in cases where the stops are digitized and left as-is if imported from a RouteLayer.
