Running the Append tool and preserving the Global IDs from an enterprise geodatabase to a file geodatabase returns the error message, "ERROR 999999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail."

This is a known limitation of the Append tool while using the PreserveGlobalIds environment variable. The GlobalID field requires a unique index to honor the PreserveGlobalIds environment setting, which is not supported for file geodatabase data.
