New story maps embedded in a website does not honor the aspect ratio of story cover when accessed directly in mobile devices.

This is by design. Story map covers are designed to be impactful since the cover is the first thing readers see when the story loads. Media is placed to fill large areas of whatever device the story is being viewed on. Authors can choose from several cover layouts that provide different media treatments. If it is important for a particular story's cover image to appear similarly on desktops and mobile devices, the author can select a different cover option. The cover options are accessed by clicking Design on the header.Solution de contournement
