Custom fonts are not supported with feature layers. Fonts are handled differently between map image layers and feature layers. They are displayed in the map image layer because the custom fonts are not referencing the font resource. To build an app, users can host the font and follow the guidelines in this developer documentation: https://developers.arcgis.com/javascript/latest/labeling/#fonts-for-featurelayer-csvlayer-and-streamlayer.
