Bogue
If a .shp file is dragged/dropped from Windows Explorer into ArcMap, ArcScene, or ArcGlobe, the description and credits fields in the resulting layer do not get populated with the information from the shapefile's item description like they do if the shapefile is added into the map by way of Add Data, Catalog window, or search.
