Bogue

Creating a new shapefile (right-clicking and selecting New > Shapefile) that has the same name as an existing DBF in the same folder causes both the new shapefile and existing DBF to be deleted instantly and disappear, whereas designing the output of a export or geoprocessing with the same name of the DBF in the same location asks whether to overwrite the existing item.
