1) If the user moves the mouse around the Search dialog window, the search will noticeable speed up. 2) After ArcCatalog opens, open the Task Manager. Right-click on the ArcCatalog.exe process and select Set Affinity. Uncheck one or more of the CPU’s listed so that only one CPU is allowed to execute on (doesn’t matter which CPU). This will need to be done each time ArcCatalog is opened.
