Admins are able to invite other users except themselves to join groups in Portal for ArcGIS 10.8.1.

The behavior described is the intended behavior of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.8.1 and prior. Subsequent to this report, the system is redesigned in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.9 and onwards to allow for administrators to add themselves to groups.Solution de contournement
An administrator's own account is returned in the member list in the invite users dialogue if searching for the full username. Administrators are then able to add themselves to the group.
