Introduction
Esri® announces the ArcGIS 10.4.1 for (Desktop, Engine, Server) Geocoding General Maintenance Patch. This patch addresses quality and stability issues when geocoding with ArcGIS for Desktop, Engine and Server. It deals specifically with the issues listed below under Issues Addressed with this patch.
Issues Addressed with this patch
- BUG-000096532 - ArcMap exits unexpectedly if ArcMap is closed while GeocodeAddresses GP tool is running in some situations.
- BUG-000096523 - Batch geocoding causes ArcMap to exit when geocoding a large table of addresses in some situations.
- BUG-000096144 - A geocode service accessed via the REST API will randomly return an incorrect Ref_ID.
- BUG-000096008 - Sending the same Find request to the World Geocoding Service returns a different result every time the request is sent.
- BUG-000094723 - Some street addresses are incorrectly geocoded by direction from start of range in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.3.1. However, the same addresses were geocoded correctly in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.2.2.
Installing this patch on Windows
Installation Steps:
ArcGIS 10.4.1 for Desktop, Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location.
- Double-click ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-GGM-Patch.msp to start the setup process.
NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the setup installation, you can start the setup installation manually by using the following command:
msiexec.exe /p [location of Patch]\ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-GGM-Patch.msp

Installing this patch on Linux
Installation Steps:
Complete the following install steps as the ArcGIS Install owner. The Install owner is the owner of the arcgis folder.
ArcGIS 10.4.1 for Engine or Server must be installed before installing this patch.
- Download the appropriate file to a location other than your ArcGIS installation location.
ArcGIS 10.4.1 Checksum (Md5) ArcGIS Engine ArcGIS-1041-E-GGM-Patch-linux.tar 51BFB2C11C2BAEC064BB5B5091E264F7 ArcGIS for Server ArcGIS-1041-S-GGM-Patch-linux.tar C0256D3F69BC5FE35B9561C97F5C0F9D
- Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is using ArcGIS.
- Extract the specified tar file by typing:
% tar -xvf ArcGIS-1041-<Product>-GGM-Patch-lx.tar
- Start the installation by typing:
% ./applypatch
This will start the dialog for the menu-driven installation procedure. Default selections are noted in parentheses ( ). To quit the installation procedure, type 'q' at any time.

How to identify which ArcGIS products are installed
To determine which ArcGIS products are installed, choose the appropriate version of the PatchFinder utility for your environment and run it from your local machine. PatchFinder will list all products, hot fixes, and patches installed on your local machine.
