Descripción

Introduction

ArcGIS Server 9.1 presently needs a Windows machine to be a primary domain controller (PDC) for user authentication. This ArcGIS Server 9.1 Patch is aimed at providing a user authentication solution on Solaris/Linuxto replace the Windows one. The entity that performs this authentication is called the Identity Server and is self-contained (i.e. it is capable of running independent of the ArcGIS Server). The Identity Server maintains its own user database on disk and authenticates users against this database. In addition to the Solaris/Linux solution, the patch also contains a tool to export existing Windows local user accounts for use with the Identity Server. This tool is particularly useful for existing ArcGIS Server 9.1 installations where a Windows machine running the RemoteSA service is being used with the ArcGIS Server.
