ArcWeb Services SOAP 2006.1 API patch – 3/15/07

This is an explanation of the first patch to SOAP 2006.1 API. Note: This is a complete list of fixes since SOAP 2006.1 API was released. There are no downloads or updates necessary on your part; these changes are already on the ESRI servers.

Address Finder Web Service and Address Manager Web Service
- New automated data source functionality automatically selects the most suitable data source for a request.
- Auto data source is available for findLocationByAddress(), findLocationByPhoneNumber(), findLocationByIP(), findAddressByPoint(), and getInfo().
- Multiple data sources are supported for a single request.
- Projection strings can now be used during data file creation.
- You can now reload a shapefile that previously failed during upload without having to remove fields geocoded by ArcWeb. These fields added by the geocoder are now ignored.
- Transparent background color is detected in requests, and thematic colors are modified to improve readability.
- Classifications are enhanced for quantile getCustomThematicMap.
- Legends for SVG and SWF map requests now indicate whether layers are visible and/or active.
- Thematic maps now support up to seven classes (previously five).
- New automated data source functionality automatically selects the most suitable data source for a request.
- Auto data source is available for findPlace() and getInfo().
- Multiple data sources are supported for a single request.
- In the ReportOptions object, reportFormat parameter now supports Excel.
- The combineReports object in the getSiteReports method is improved.
- For the ReportOptions object's reportHeader parameter, standard geography values are now supported.
- A new number (11032) is assigned to the following error message: "Given area is outside the available data boundary."
- Code sample downloads are available for the following environments: C# ASP.NET, JavaServer Pages (JSP) Axis, JSP Glue, and Visual Basic ASP.NET.

- Auto data source is available for findRoute().
- Multiple data sources are supported for a single request.
- The findFeaturesByExtent and findFeaturesByGeometry methods now support custom data sources.
- Performance is enhanced for data sources based on both infoUSA and user-uploaded data.
- Returned distance values for projected user data have higher accuracy.
- TotalCount requests now account for buffers specified in kilometers.
- The getDriveTime method now supports the following non-U.S. data sources: ArcWeb:NT.Streets.NA, ArcWeb:NT.Streets.EU, ArcWeb:TA.Streets.EU, and ArcWeb:MDS.Streets.AS.
- ArcWeb Help now includes steps for updating your v2 applications for v2006.1.
- Documentation features two new knowledge base articles as well as updates based on user feedback.
