ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1

This Service Pack contains performance improvements and maintenance fixes. Please download and install this required Service Pack at your earliest convenience.

The ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1 setup has been replaced to address the following additional fix:

  • NIM040214 - Validating geodatabase topology containing overlapping curves may produce incorrect results. Please see Technical Article 35833 for more information.

NOTE: If you've installed ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1 prior to November 24, 2008, simply install ArcGIS 9.3 SP1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Topology Validation Patch to fix this issue. You do not need to re-install ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1.

NOTE: If you've already installed ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1 and the ArcGIS 9.3 SP1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Topology Validation Patch, you do not need to re-install Service Pack 1.

NOTE: To check for the presence of ArcGIS 9.3 SP1 (Desktop, Engine, Server) Topology Validation Patch or the updated 9.3 Service Pack 1 (9.3 SP1),

  • Under the <installation folder>\ArcGIS\Bin folder, right click the GdbTopo.dll file
  • Select Properties
  • On the Version tab, the File version for GdbTopo.dll should read: 9.3.1.1851.

Installation Notes

  • It is important to keep all versions of ArcGIS products installed on the same machine in sync to avoid any software conflicts.

    To find out what products are currently installed on your machine, download the PatchFinder93.exe utility and run it from your local machine. This utility provides a report detailing which ArcGIS products are currently installed on your machine. This will help determine which product Service Packs you should install on your machine. The report also details which service packs have been installed. The report is displayed when the utility is run and a servicepack.txt log file is created in your temp folder. The Service Pack Finder utility searches for the following ArcGIS products.

    • ArcGIS ArcReader
      ArcGIS Desktop (ArcView, ArcEditor, ArcInfo) Includes the ArcReader fixes for the ArcReader FEATURE.
      ArcGIS Desktop Developer Kit for the Microsoft .NET Framework, VB6, VBA and Visual C++
      ArcGIS Engine Developer Kit for C++, the Java Platform, the Microsoft .NET Framework, VB6 and Visual C++
      ArcGIS Engine Runtime
      ArcGIS Image Server
      ArcGIS Server for the Microsoft .NET Framework
      ArcGIS Server for the Java Platform

    To see which version of ArcGIS Image Server you already have installed, please see Technical Article 32839, "FAQ: Which version of ArcGIS Image Server is installed?"

    NOTE: This service pack must be installed on ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1 or higher, also known as Version 9.3.0. It is not compatible with an earlier version. When installing the Service Editor, it must be installed on ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 Service Pack 1 and ArcGIS Image Server 9.3 Service Pack 1.

    NOTE: If ArcGIS Server is installed and running a service containing an image service layer from ArcGIS Image Server, the ArcGIS Server service needs to be stopped before installing the service pack.

    NOTE: You must stop any ArcGIS Image Server Service Providers or Servers before installing the service pack.

Installation Steps

    1. Make sure you have write access to your ArcGIS installation location, and that no one is accessing it.


    3. Download ArcGISImageServer93SP1.msp to a location other than the installation folder:

      ArcGIS Image Server
      ArcGISImageServer93SP1.msp 14 MB

    4. Double-click ArcGISImageServer93SP1.msp to start the install process.

      NOTE: If double clicking on the MSP file does not start the Service Pack installation, you can start the Service Pack installation manually by using the following command:

      • msiexec.exe /p [location of service pack]\ArcGISImageServer93SP1.msp
    5. When Setup starts, follow the instructions on your screen.

NOTE: If you have installed client setups from a shared Network Administrative ArcGIS Desktop setup, this Service Pack must be applied to all client installations.

NOTE: You will not be able to install this Service Pack directly from any removable media, you must copy the Service Pack Install file (MSP) locally or to a location on your network prior to installing the Service Pack.
