In the Geodesic method, distance is calculated along a curve from the center of the sphere. In a two-dimensional view, this appears as a straight line, but it is still the nearest point based on the data. The distance calculated using both methods remains the same. Using the appropriate coordinate system ensures the correct calculation method is recommended.
