Error
When using the ArcGIS API for Python, interpolate_points does not overwrite an existing layer when the overwrite parameter is set to True.

Per the documentation, the output_name can be a string or feature layer, not item. Per the documentation, the output_name can be a string or feature layer, not item. Refer to the documentation for more information. The reason it cannot be an Item is because an Item can be composed of multiple layers.
