When the symbology from the Map Viewer is modified before overwriting, the symbology of the registered map iImage layer is not updated.

Symbology specified within the portal Map Viewer and the default symbology for service are separate. Overwriting a service from ArcGIS Pro does not change symbology in of that service in a portal web map if different symbology has been applied. The web map must be edited directly to update any symbology applied within the web map.
