The performance of the specific tool was resolved in another issue; the remaining behavior of browsing the file directly in the catalog pane/view is a known limitation of how ArcGIS Pro utilizes a local cache. Populating this cache takes time on a set of sheets with ~ a million rows. Once populated, the performance is significantly better.Solución alternativa
- Use the .xls or .csv file to improve the performance.
- Add the .xlsx file first from the Catalog pane, and then use the tool.
- Add the Excel file from the Add Data button.
