Error
The 'Keep in single column' property of a legend item in ArcGIS Pro is not honoured when adding more layers to the map and the legend items alignment shifts

The "Keep in single column" property is applied to existing legend items. It is not applied to new legend items. How the legend adjusts when new layers are added is managed by the properties set under the Legend Arrangement Options tab of the Format Legend pane (Legend properties). Under the "Fitting Strategy" drop down there are options to adjust the legend. In cases of appending new items to a single column, choose either "Adjust fame" or "Adjust font size" from the drop-down. "Adjust frame" resizes the legend frame while maintaining a set number of columns and the font size. "Adjust font size" adjusts the legend to fit the frame by reducing the font size as needed. Items that do not fit are dropped from the legend. If there is information that could not fit within the legend frame, three red dots are seen.
